This was my ex pseudo mother-in-law. The son-as-husband thing. Totally creepy. Do they do things like go to the gym together? If not, consider yourself lucky.
I would let her help with household items because MAYBE she will pay for them. Even if you can easily afford them, a little more in your savings account never hurts!

Well, the new place is in Northern California, where I moved about 5 months ago. Eureka, to be exact.

and, no, she doesn't take him to the gym- but he is required to go to vet visits with her and her cat. *barf*
